Low roaming charges can rake in profits for mobile companies

Usage of mobile phones has made great in-roads. Every person has a mobile phone whether it is a simple phone which can be used only for making calls to the high end smart phones and android ones which have multi-purpose use. There is an extensive use of mobiles by one and all. The mobile phones provide access to anyone who holds a mobile and therefore, communication has become simpler and immediate. Even if you travel abroad, you can contact your near ones using your mobile phone. Technology has grown rapidly and it is still making great strides. Every day new technologies are being invented to make our life easier and worth living. But, there is a catch that many consumers complain that the roaming charges collected for using a mobile from another county is quite expensive. This is a big deterrent to the people.

Recently, it has been announced that data roaming charges could be cancelled by mobile companies within a couple of years. For instance, the EU is trying to do away these roaming charges and which means mobile companies could operate in various countries which will result in high competition and the end result would be that the consumers would benefit.

Disadvantages of data roaming charges

1. Many mobile phone users do not use the data roaming facility; they claim it to be too expensive as they are laden with high bills which are extremely frustrating.
2. They feel the charges acquired for data roaming is not worth the money spent on calling from outside countries.

If data roaming charges are abolished then online businesses would thrive better as they can provide users and travellers who are travelling abroad with all the relevant information and useful services from local businesses. In simple words, if roaming charges are scrapped, many more people will use their mobile phones when they are away from their country.
